It’s impossible to speak about flieger watches 

And not mention Stowa. Equally, it’s difficult to speak about Stowa without referencing the brand’s strong historic link with the output of these watches. Stowa were among the original five watchmakers to create the archetypal observation watch, or Beobachtungs-uhren, from the German air forces.

Although a few of the original needs have tucked towards the wayside through the years as form surpasses its original function, like the requirement for an anti-magnetic cage or even the huge 55-millimeter diameter, the straightforward style of the kind-A dial has was the ages remarkably well. Stowa’s onion crown isn’t the size of those seen on another typically-styled fliegers, and through time using the Ikarus I haven’t found the crown to become a physical annoyance. Aesthetically, I’m certainly starting to warm up into it, too.

The dial may be the focus in the Ikarus.
